There's lots going on this August - so read on and don't miss out!

First, mark your calendar for the upcoming mixer on August 27th. Sponsored by KeyBank, it's sure to be a great opportunity to expand your business connections.

Thanks to sponsoring Union Institute and others, the Chamber continues to promote Shop Locally with a radio campaign that reminds residents to utilize local goods and services, and the Pick Six promotion that provides FREE Theater Tickets to visitors or residents who visit at least six free attractions. Taking advantage of each of these is a win-win situation!

The Central Vermont Community Profile is closing in on advertising deadlines, so reserve your space.

And, with summer waining, its time to consider your fall  education schedule. Check out Community College's Fall Course schedule to see if there are classes to help you hone your skills.

August 27th from 5:00 - 7:00 P. M. KeyBank is sponsoring a mixer at the Chamber's Office Complex in Berlin.
This two-hour gathering in the Chamber conference rooms provides the opportunity to make and renew business contacts.
Presented courtesy of KeyBank, the combination business and social event will focus more on creating business relationships than in the past.
Vice President Steve Gilman expressed that the tone was set at the May mixer where it was good to see people actively seeking out those they didn't know. He said the mixer would once again provide businesses the opportunity to tout their services, with extra time for some to give a 60-second commercial if their names are drawn.
"People are more focused than they were before, less social chat and more business talk," Gilman added. "Members have asked us for more of these opportunities, and we are going to provide them."
Reservations are not required but are greatly appreciated. RSVP by calling the Chamber at 229-5711 or by emailing  cvchamber@aol.com. Get the .pdf Flyer

Shop Locally!

Shopping locally puts dollars in the hands of businesses that employ friends and neighbors. These are the same businesses that buy goods and services from other local firms, repeating the cycle.

Shopping locally is good for the local community. Everyone knows it. Everyone forgets.

Union Institute & University has stepped up to remind residents, and it encourages others to participate in the Central Vermont shop locally campaign.

"The evidence is clear," said institute spokesman Neal Meier. "Reminders keep dollars in the community, benefiting both businesses and residents."

"We believe continuing this message is vitally important," Meier said. "While Union Institute isn't likely to feel any direct impact, the economic health of the community is critical to everyone."

Jim Kurrle of Kurrle Fuels added both endorsement and cash. He said it is such an easy thing to do, but so easy to overlook. "I'm happy to be participating."

Additional businesses who have signed up to participate as of the end of July include E. F. Wall & Associates, First In Fitness,
Bill Cody - UBS Financial Broker, Denis, Ricker & Brown and Linda Milne, CPA

All area businesses can join the campaign by making a pledge online at cvregion.net/shoplocal. More...
